Just a 2-3 min. walk from the trailhead for a gorgeous view of Chattanooga! Plenty of room at the overlook for everyone. Visited in December so there was some ice but easy to avoid. 8 spots of free parking are a big plus!
A little hike (probably 0.25 mile) down to a sunset viewing spot. Plenty of places to
Sit to watch sunset but gets crowded very quickly. Also leads to several trails that can take you down the mountain or to point park. *** if you hike to point park, and exit there, you will probably have to pay the 10$ per person entrance fee even if you’re just exiting. We almost had to pay the 500$ trespass fee even though we just exited the hiking trails.
Not much parking (probably 6 or 7 spots) so get there way before sunset!
The other reviews were very helpful. Arrived early; maybe an hour and a half before sunset and got a parking spot. The trail from the lot to the view is clear- rock steps make up the majority. It is a path down, so that means a path back up. (Down was easier!)
100% worth the view. Not crowded, and plenty of unrestricted views of a beautiful sunset.
It is quite high up, so stay away from the edge. You will be far above the tree tops. Bring a bottle of water and a camera, but the photos just don't do the view justice!
Nice spot to watch the sunset. It was too cold for us Floridians to wait for the sun to come down on this particular evening. But it was a beautiful place. We enjoyed the short hike and took in the view. Captured some pretty pics and headed to the truck to warm up, lol.
Parking is limited, so def try to visit on weekdays or early in the day. It's a quick hike but there are a lot of steps, so be prepared for a little elevation change. Gorgeous views from the point.
The parking area at the top is very small, maybe 6 spaces. The 'hike' down and back is not bad. I am only 2.5 weeks out from having had a major surgery and had no issues except some shortness of breath on way back up. I will say be mindful of shoes because I hike frequently and if it's damp, leaves are on the rocks, or muddy after a rain it could be quite slick. It was an impromptu hike for me so was wear non skid tennis shoes instead of hikers and felt a slight sliding a few times on sandier areas at edges of some of rock/path areas. But overall if no knee, ankle or back issues shouldn't be a problem. If you have to park in one of the other areas bring hydration and plan accordingly for projected sunset time and wear reflective clothing for walk back to car... had numerous people in dark colors walking on road that has no shoulders where all you could see was the soles of the shoes... Safety First People! Memories won't do you any good if you're in hospital or dead.
You can take just a quick .25 mile trail down to the views (which were great!)
There are other trails that continue, but I didn't have time to do those - will try next time I visit though!
Nice views here. The path down to the view was a little weird but the view made it worth it. Didn’t do the trail cause I was a little confused on what part was closed.
